It's been a wild week! I don't think that I posted that on January 25 (Friday before last) I substituted for the 2nd grade teacher at Jacob's school. Then mom's fall on Saturday kinda overshadowed everything else. Monday after talking to the horse's a** that is the CEO of the MEDICAL CLINIC where she fell, I consulted an attorney, who drove from Salt Lake to her house (about an hour and a half) on Tuesday. She also had an appointment on Tuesday with the surgeon. Her next scheduled surgery is Feb 21-to remove the lens that is imbeded in her eye. She will have that one and then we'll see if she has any hope of regaining her sight in that eye. IF he feels like she will be able to regain any sight at all, he'll do a lens replacement after that. He said it may be 3 months before we know anything. SO keep the prayers coming!
On Friday (Feb 1) I subbed for K4 at Jacob's school. I learned a couple things...First...I am so very thankful for late start delays of the school day (we were delayed two hours due to ice). Second, I will NOT be sending a bunch of sugary foods with Emma next year for her school lunches. I was so exhausted - those kids wore ME OUT! Friday my friend had a hysterectomy - she had uterine cancer - but she's recovering nicely and may be able to come home today.
Emma and I will fly to mom's on the 12th. I decided that I didn't want to change planes two times with a 3 year old that had never flown before (I could picture Emma freaking out when it was time to get on the third plane and refusing to get on, kicking and screaming while I carried her onboard). SO, Frank's driving us to Dulles Airport-about an hour and a half away. I feel awful-we come back on the 26th at 10:00 pm so he'll be exhausted that next day... BUT a direct flight will be worth it, and he insisted. Mom has 10 (yes, that's TEN) feet of snow on the ground right now and they're supposed to be getting another storm. Emma is excited; Jacob is jealous!
Yesterday Frank took me to Fredericksburg to visit the scrappin stores and to dinner (Logans-the BEST burgers!) for my birthday. I got the Tim Holtz hammer that I've been wanting and some more Grungeboard alphas. There was a book I was looking for... Teach Yourself Crochet in Just One Day (right hand)...if anybody out there sees it-it was sold out at both Michaels and AC Moore...let me know if anybody sees it-I have a crazy drive to learn to crochet...I started initially wanting to learn so I could crochet my own flowers for layouts then I started researching and found a very cool charity, called the Linus Project. SO, I'd like to learn so I could crochet baby blankets-they present them to babies and children in the hospital or those that have been traumatized in some way...maybe due to their parent's death, losing their house in a fire, terminally ill children and infants, etc. They also take sewn blankets so if anybody has any fabric they aren't going to use...fleece and flannel let me know-you can send it to me and I'll sew the blankets for Linus Project. I do have some that I'll be using...I need to go through my fabric anyway. I just have a really strong drive to do this...maybe God has put it in my heart-maybe I'm just being me.... :)
Now I need to get hoppin on my billing AND the samples for the Life Preservers online crop since I'll be at mom's when we have it. I haven't done any scrappin at all since the last thing I posted here...I need to get busy!
